Transcription: The Phalanx system was thoroughly tested. Its ability to counter the increasing threat of enemy cruise missiles was consistently and convincingly demonstrated. Utilizing a unique breakthrough in radar technology called closed-loop spotting, the system tracks both the target and the projectiles in in the vicinity of the target. The angular error between the two is measured and then automatically corrected to direct the projectiles to the target.
